How to setup a bootable persistent installation for Android X86 on a flash disk

1 Download the iso for Android X86 from http://www.android-x86.org/download
2 Burn a CD/ROM with the iso.
    As an alternative, download unetbootin from http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ and put the iso on a flash disk.
    This  will appear with a FAT32 file system.
3 Get a (another) flash disk ( minimum 1 GB )
4 Using Gparted (or another program) create a ntfs primary partition on the flash disk and set the boot flag
    The partition size has to be between 720 MB (minimum) and 2.2 GB (maximum).
4 Boot Android X86 from the CD/ROM or the flash disk and select 'install on hard disk'
    Hint: This Android X86 iso is NOT persistent, i.e. if you change settings or install apps, after reboot
    you lose everything
5 Insert the flash disk.
6 You will be asked to choose the disk on which to install Android. Choose the     ntfs formatted flash disk.
7 You will be asked to choose eventually to format the disk. Choose DO NOT FORMAT.
8 You will be asked to choose eventually to install GRUB. Choose TO INSTALL GRUB.
9 You will be asked to choose the dimension of the working disk. Choose a dimension between 512 Mb and 2048 MB.
10 You will be asked if you want a read only or write file system. Choose READ ONLY.
11 You will be asked if you want a fake sd. Choose NO.
At the end of the process you will have a flash disk with a persistent Android X86

Now, if you want, you can eventually use the remainder of the persistent Android X86 flash disk as a virtual SD.
In this case, using Gparted, create a FAT32 partition not greater than 2048 MB.

Come configurare una installazione avviabile persistente per Android X86 su un disco flash

1 Scaricare la iso di Android X86 da http://www.android-x86.org/download
2 Masterizzare un CD / ROM con la iso.
     In alternativa, scaricare unetbootin da http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ e mettere la iso su un disco flash.
     Questo apparirà con un file system FAT32.
3 Prendi un (altro) flash disk (minimo 1 GB)
4 Utilizzando Gparted (o un altro programma) creare una partizione primaria ntfs sul disco flash e impostare il flag di boot
     La dimensione della partizione deve essere compresa tra 720 MB (minima) e 2,2 GB (massimo).
4 Lancia X86 Android facendo Boot da CD / ROM o dal disco flash e selezionare 'installare su hard disk'
     Suggerimento: Questa Android X86 ISO non è persistente, cioè se si modificano le impostazioni o installano applicazioni,
     dopo il riavvio si perde tutto
5 Inserire il disco flash.
6 Vi verrà chiesto di scegliere il disco su cui installare Android. Scegliere il formato flash disk ntfs.
7 Vi verrà chiesto di scegliere eventualmente di formattare il disco. Scegli NOT FORMAT.
8 Vi verrà chiesto di scegliere eventualmente di installare GRUB. Scegliere di installare GRUB.
9 Vi verrà chiesto di scegliere la dimensione del disco di lavoro. Scegli una quota tra 512 Mb e 2048 MB.
10 Vi verrà chiesto se si desidera una sola lettura o scrittura del file system. Scegli SOLA LETTURA.
11 Vi verrà chiesto se si desidera un fake sd. Scegliere NO.
Alla fine del processo avrete un disco flash con un persistente Android X86

Ora, se si desidera, è possibile eventualmente utilizzare il resto del disco flash Android X86 persistente come SD virtuale.
In questo caso, con Gparted, creare una partizione FAT32 non superiore a 2048 MB.
